9. Zero-to-SAN Practical Assessment

Demonstrate the full operational workflow and produce evidence that another engineer can review.

Level: Assessment · Time: 75 minutes · Prerequisite: modules 1–8

The assessment measures observable work rather than recall. You must preserve service, identify the relevant failure domain, use appropriate commands, avoid unauthorized changes and verify both availability and redundancy.

Before assessment, complete one challenge in each Academy technology without hints. Reset the environment between attempts and explain every command before executing it.

  1. Inspect dual-fabric topology and establish a baseline.
  2. Diagnose one FC and one iSCSI incident.
  3. Create and activate a safe zoning change.
  4. Prove effective state and host-path outcome.
  5. Demonstrate checkpoint rollback.
  6. Export the Academy report and write a concise incident handoff.

Pass target: weighted score of at least 80 with no practical domain below 60.

  1. Can you explain why every command was necessary?
  2. Did you verify redundancy after restoring connectivity?
  3. Does your report allow another engineer to reproduce the reasoning?

The completion record proves performance in this educational subset. It is not a vendor certification and does not authorize production access.

Continue in free-practice mode, repeat weak domains and propose a new scenario through the repository’s topic template.
